How to use it

Update your phone to the latest version of the SmartCocoon app.
To turn on the sensor, press and hold the power button for 3 to 5 seconds. A green light will flash once.
Scan the QR code on the sensor to connect it to the SmartCocoon app. Follow our step by step guide in the app.
To turn it off, either tap "Power Off" in the app or press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Use the included double-sided sticker to mount the sensor in your room, away from vents and direct sunlight.
Please note that the sensor only works if you have a SmartCocoon booster fan.
If you just installed your booster fan, give it a few minutes for the latest firmware to download.

Where to place it

Mount the sensor using the included double-sided sticker.
Place it about 5 ft (1.5 m) off the ground since temperature and humidity can vary near the floor or ceiling.
Keep it away from heating or cooling vents.
Avoid direct sunlight.
Do not place it near windows or doors.

Each sensor comes with a two-year warranty for peace of mind. Please note that the battery is not covered under the warranty.

Adds a lot of value

I installed the Smart Cocoon booster fan, and noticed an improvement in the temperature of the room very quickly. A few weeks later, I added a sensor, and almost immediately noticed a further improvement. Prior to having the sensor, the app showed only the temperature inside the vent, which was understandably very different from the actual room temperature. Since adding the sensor, temperature changes are much more accurate.
I am very impressed with both the booster fan and the sensor, and can heartily recommend adding one for those who already have the fan. It synced with my ecobee thermostat immediately, and has made a noticeable difference.
It's nice to see a product that just works, and in these challenging times even nicer to find such a product that's made in Canada! Well done to all involved. In addition, any questions I had throughout the process were quickly and clearly answered.

External Temperature Sensor

This external sensor reports temperature more accurately than booster fan's estimation. I have some pairing issue on initial setup by following the setup instruction. LED light did not flash according to the instruction but somehow I did get them paired after several tries. I wonder how long will the battery last and is there anyway to change the battery if it ran low.

We’re sorry to hear you had some trouble connecting your device. Since the sensor was just released, we’re actively gathering feedback to improve the instructions that we include with the sensor. We really appreciate your input as it helps us make the setup process easier for everyone. The sensor uses one Toshiba CR2032 battery, which can last up to 4 years.
